Frequently Asked Questions
What is ANA Research (Anderson, Niebuhr & Associates, Inc.)?
We are an independent market research firm established in 1974. We conduct survey research for other organizations, using mail surveys, telephone surveys, web surveys, and focus groups. We are NOT telemarketers and we do NOT sell anything to those we survey. We merely want your opinions. Click through any of the pages on our website to learn more about us, or call us at 1-888-709-9874.
I received a survey / email invitation / phone call – what is this survey about?
It depends — we do research in a variety of markets. Your feedback will be used by our clients to make a variety of decisions, such as what products and services to offer their customers/members, what program improvements or changes may be necessary to make, or where to build a new facility. If you would like to learn more about the particular survey you have been invited to respond to, please call our office at 1-888-709-9874 to talk with a Supervisor or Project Manager.
Who is sponsoring the survey?
It varies. We are an independent research firm conducting research for a variety of companies and organizations. If you would like to learn more about the particular survey you have been invited to participate in please call our office at 1-888-709-9874 to talk with a Supervisor or Project Manager. Please note that for some of our surveys we cannot reveal the sponsor. Doing so could change how some people answer. We want your honest answers, without any feeling that there are “correct” or “incorrect” responses. It is vital that we provide unbiased data to our clients so they can make the decisions that will best serve you and other people like you.
Will my name be kept confidential? What happens to my answers?
Yes, absolutely! Your name and contact information will be kept confidential and secure. The data we send to our clients will not include names or other identifying information. Your responses will be grouped with other people’s responses and reported in aggregate, and your contact information is not stored with your survey responses.
Why are you asking about my age / income / race / ethnicity, etc.?
These types of demographic questions help us group your answers with other people’s answers to find differences in people’s opinions or experiences. Your responses are confidential, and this information is only used to analyze groups of responses. We never ask for driver’s license numbers, member numbers, patient or medical record numbers, account numbers, or Social Security Numbers.
How did you get my name / number / address or email address?
We do not keep our own lists, so there are two ways, depending on the purpose of the study: 1) Our client provided a list of their own, such as their customers, patients, members, etc., or 2) We purchased a list appropriate for the survey. After the study is completed, we delete the lists of names and contact information that were stored in our computer system.
I’m on the National Do Not Call list. Why are you calling me?
Calling for research purposes is exempt from this restriction. As an independent research company, we are legally allowed to contact people on the National Do Not Call list for surveys. However, if you do not want to do the survey, please call 1-888-709-9874 to talk with a Supervisor, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will need to know at a minimum your name and which study or survey you were contacted about.
I want to do a survey. How can I get added to your list?
We appreciate your interest in participating in our research. However, we do not keep or re-use lists or panels for our surveys or focus groups.
